Purple Comet! Math Meet

Purple Comet! Math Meet

Quick-Start Instructions

Step 1

Every team needs an adult supervisor at least 21 years old.
Before any teams can be registered, the Adult Supervisor must register at the contest website by clicking on SUPERVISOR LOGIN. We recommend that this be done well before any of the supervisor’s teams are ready to compete. Register now.

Step 2

The supervisor logs in, and registers one or more teams by clicking on ADD TEAMS. The supervisor can register a team with no students and add the students' names later. Login now.

Step 3 (optional)

The supervisor can run practice contests for his/her teams using problems from previous meets by clicking on MANAGE PRACTICE CONTESTS.

Step 4

Before the students show up for the contest, the supervisor may click on MANAGE SPRING xxxx MEET and download the PDF file of the contest problems and print them so that they are ready to distribute to the students when the students begin the contest. This step is optional, but highly recommended.

Step 5

When the teams are ready to start the contest, the supervisor must start their official contest clocks. The supervisor logs in and selects MANAGE SPRING xxxx MEET. For each team that is about to start, the supervisor clicks the checkbox for each team ready to start. Then, when all is ready, the supervisor announces "Start!" and simultaneously clicks the START CONTESTS FOR SELECTED TEAMS button below the team list.

Step 6

When a team is ready start the contest, it should log into its team account by clicking the TEAM LOGIN link and then clicking SPRING xxxx MEET. Once their team clock starts, they will see the contest problems and answer boxes on the screen. If the clock starts after the team logs in, the team may have to refresh their screen to see the problems. Teams are encouraged to click their SUBMIT button frequently so that they get feedback confirming the correct submission of their answers. Team Login.
We record all answer submissions. The last answer submitted for any particular problem is the answer we score.

Step 7

Although it is not required, consider supporting the Purple Comet! Math Meet so that it can remain a FREE contest by visiting our CONTRIBUTIONS page.

And that's it!

Of course, there's a lot more you can do at the site, but these are the critical steps to the contest itself. If you are the adult supervisor for a team, you should visit the site early, log in and explore the supervisor's pages. Although running the contest is not difficult, it is best to learn where everything is before the day of the contest arrives. Familiarize yourself with the contest rules posted on the CONTEST RULES menu.

Best of luck to you and your teams!
