Every team needs an adult supervisor. Before any teams can be registered, the Adult Supervisor must register at the contest website. We recommend that this be done before the contest begins to allow supervisor and team registrations to be completed well before the teams have to compete. Register now.
The supervisor logs in, and registers one or more teams of students. The supervisor can register a team with no students, and add the students' names later. Login now.
The supervisor can run practice contests for his/her teams using problems from previous meets.
Before the students show up for the contest, the supervisor downloads the PDF file of the contest problems, prints them, and has them ready to distribute to the students. This step is optional, but highly recommended.
At the moment the teams are to start the contest, the supervisor must start their official contest clocks. The supervisor logs in and selects "My TEAM List" from the navigation buttons at the left. For each team that is about to start, the supervisor clicks the checkbox for that team under "Start Clock?" in the team list. Then, when all is ready, the supervisor announces "Start!" and simultaneously clicks the "START THE CLOCK" button below the team list.
When a team is ready to submit one or more answers, the TEAM logs in with their own unique team ID and password. They enter as many answers as they have prepared in the answer boxes, and then submit them.
Be sure the team logs out when they are done, so a follow-up team's answers don't get mixed in with the first team's answers.
Repeat step 6 as often as necessary. We record all answer submissions. The last answer submitted for any particular problem is the answer we score.
Although it is not required, consider supporting the Purple Comet! Math Meet so that it can remain a FREE contest by visiting our CONTRIBUTIONS page.
Of course, there's a lot more you can do at the site, but these are the critical steps to the contest itself. If you are the adult supervisor for a team, you should visit the site early, log in and explore the supervisor's pages. Although running the contest is not difficult, it is best to learn where everything is before the day of the contest arrives.
